Stories to Change the World was born from the need to create literature depicting positive and possible futures. Since 2015, we’ve chosen short story contests as a solution.
Our contests engage several community streams. Businesses, nonprofits, and individuals are invited to participate as sponsors, making it possible for us to operate. Youth and adults, near and far, are invited to become visionaries without an entry fee. Community organizers compose the panels of judges. Everyone is invited to the book-release parties!
Future Folklore is a feedback loop; The practice of telling stories from the present moment to shape the values and possibilities of the future; telling stories of the future to shape the values and possibilities of the present.
The 2020 short story contest, #STCW3, focused on Mental Health and Food Systems awarded over $2000 USD across 10 cash prize winners from around the world. The anthology, a free-to-access eBook was released August 2020. Read it now.
