Our duty is to elevate new storytellers.
Stories to Change the World (STCW) was born in 2015 as a short story contest of predictive fiction. The goal was to inspire new people to invent versions of a positive future, adding diversity to the pool of possibilities. Our contests continued annually, changed names, and evolved into what we now call Future Folklore.
In 2020, projects diversified. A 10-issue newsprint series, International Activist Collections, provided windows into the lives and imaginations of activists around the world.
We entered the world of visual storytelling in 2023, with the release of Analog VR.

STCW is owned and operated by Alexis Mercedes, a project manager, creative director, and content creator.
Sustainability, feminism, and pleasure activism are what make her tick. Before publication, she built a career in early childhood and environmental education.
Certifications include Environmental Science, Community Development, Permaculture, and Project Management.
